Relationships are complicated and whenever strong emotions are involved, there is the potential for violence. Our instincts are our built-in warning system to tell us whether or not we are safe with a person or in a situation. When you feel you or a friend may be in danger, listen to that feeling and get out of the situation. It’s okay to ask for help.

Threats of harm and the use of weapons should always be taken seriously. We can’t know for sure what another person might do, but we can take action to keep others and ourselves safe. If someone has a weapon, get away from them immediately and call 911.
