| | | | | I see all this stuff about not smoking and drugs all the time. But is it really that unhealthy if you do it in moderation? I don't like weed, but my friends do sometimes and they seem fine to me. Some of them are better in school than me. As long as you aren't an addict I think it's not a big deal. To each their own. |
| | | | | I don't think weed is bad. And I hate it how people (specially old people) are all like, "POT ONE DAY, H THE NEXT!" It's not true.
But I mean... smoking sucks. It's gross. I mean, it doesn't even make you feel good or anything. It's just... nasty. I don't know how people get addicted, because I could never smoke more than one cigarette... your first is your last, you know? |
| | | | | it is really as bad as you think.my best friend dropped out of school because she was failing.and you know what?? she smoked pot, and weed and she did crack. i dont hang out with her anymore but i feel bad for her.not because she did it, but because she did it to herself. |
| | | | | Yeah that is what i thought until they slowly start doing it more and more and you dont really notice until one day it snaps in your head that they smoke every day more than one time. My friends started off saying only when we aer celebrating and i stopped all together and they are doing it 3 or 4 times a day it is stupid and you should help them stop cuz it is just going to lead to bigger things and worse drugs

| | | | | okay guys #1 pot is not addicting getting high is it'll take more and more to achieve the high that you want w/ pot. thats why its a gateway drug it leads you to do more harmfull drugs that get you high quicker and harder. tobacco is not addicting either its the incredible amount of niccotine in a cig than hooks you on tobacco...there are over 6,000 chemicals in a cig and its true that there are less in a cigar but that dosn't mean you should smoke cigars instead..smoking poses risk of cancer to mouth, larynx, esophogus, and throat. if i where you i would just stop smoking all together trust me its not worth it. -phill- |

While smoking one cigarette a day is certainly better than one pack a day, those cigarettes add up in your body and it’s only a matter of time until you’re addicted. Some estimate it takes 100 cigarettes for your body to become physically addicted, so even though it may take you longer to smoke those first 100, addiction is inevitable*. You may think you can control it by smoking sparingly, but why even bother setting yourself up for that long and hard road of eventually quitting? Bottom line, if you can stop yourself now (while it’s still truly just a casual thing) do it and make that choice while it’s still your own.
* Pierce and Gilpin (1996) estimated that half of adolescents who have smoked 100 cigarettes or more will smoke for at least 16-20 years. |

Good choice avoiding cigarettes. While you may question the truth of marijuana being a “gateway” drug to even more dangerous drugs, keep in mind there is an even more relevant issue. Because it is illegal, pot is not monitored by anyone to ensure it has not been laced with other narcotics such as cocaine or PCP. And marijuana smoke contains the same cancer causing chemicals as cigarettes, which is all inhaled into the lungs because marijuana joints do not have filters. Also, by smoking marijuana, you are physiologically altering your body. That doesn’t happen without risks. There is some good information at www.abovetheinfluence.com if you want to explore more on the topic. |
| | | | | | Weed has the same effects as cigarettes. It's still bad for you! You smoke it don't you? Think of all the crap they put into it! Yuk!!! It's disgusting. Why would anyone want to deliberatley put that stuff in their body!!! |
| | | | | | I agree, smoking in general is gross for your body, whether that be tobacco, weed, or whatever else people are smoking these days. But what about using a vaporizer, is that as bad? That way you are not inhaling the poisons creating by burning. |

Did you know that there are more than 4,000 chemicals in secondhand smoke? Sixty different cancer-causing agents are released into the air from just one puff of one cigarette, and many of these chemicals are odorless. Unfortunately, air filters, purifiers and ventilation systems do not remove all the chemicals in second-hand smoke. They may remove some of the smell and particles from the air, but they may not remove the harmful toxins that you cannot see or smell. So keep in mind, just because you can’t smell it, that doesn’t mean it’s not still causing your body harm! |
